We were commissioned to
design a center for the re-training and
re-education of persons who have suffered
cognitive and motor losses as a result of
sever head trauma. This facility served as a
prototype for similar care campuses developed
nationwide by our client.
Located on the site of a former camp in
Arkansas, the center contains various
specialized classrooms for re-training, as
well as therapy pools and exercise areas.
Staff research and a central library complete
the 21,000 square foot building.
Despite the requirements for very highly
specialized functions to be housed within the
building, a conscious effort was made to
project a warm, familiar vernacular image, to
welcome and reassure the facility’s users.
